Anglican Communion Devotional
Daily Fountain 2022

The Topic of Daily Fountain Devotional for 6th October 2024 Is “Trusting In The Lord”

Read: Psalm 125: 1-5(NKJV)

1 They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
4 Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE  FOR 6TH OCTOBER 2024.

People trust in many things in the world such as money, power, personalities, charm or even certificates. Historically, these can fail for we see the rich die from terminal diseases in well-equipped hospitals, or through accidents and activities of bandits in spite of their massive wealth.

Our text enjoins us to trust the Lord as a life-long process of believing and acting on His word for everything. This will help us to please Him and qualify for His promised blessings. The advantages of trusting in the Lord are enormous. Our text says such persons who trust in God are like Mount Zion which cannot be moved. By implication, they are stable in faith amidst storms with the peace of God in their hearts. They also abide in God forever. God gives them protection by surrounding them with His presence and makes them inaccessible to enemies.

God will not allow the devices of the wicked to afflict the righteous to an unbearable extent, lest they slip off (v.3). Note that the ways of both the righteous and crooked are known to the Lord and He rewards each man according to his work. Beloved, let us therefore be upright in all we do, for we shall reap God’s gracious reward in due course.

PRAYER: Lord deliver us from the attraction of the flesh and everything that prevents us from trusting in you.
