ANGLICAN COMMUNION DEVOTIONAL OUTLINE FOR 2ND JULY 2024.
The fulfilment of God’s command in Genesis 1: 28 and 9: 2 is here demonstrated. The expansion of the remainder of the lineage of Ham is shown in verses 15 to 20, while that of Shem is listed in verses 21 to 31. A notable member of the lineage of Ham is Canaan, whose descendants occupied the Promised Land that was later possessed by Israel. Most of the present day occupants of the Middle East, the Arabian Peninsula and the surroundings, are mainly descendants of Shem and Ham (through Canaan). With the passage of time and increase in population, people dispersed in different directions, thereby fulfilling the word of God(vv.18, vv20, vv32).
The name, Peleg, in verse 25 means “division”, which may be a reference to the division of languages described in Genesis 11: 1-9. Aram in verses 22 and 23 refers to Syria, one of the nations with a long history and which played prominent roles in Biblical history. We can see that God is faithful in ensuring that His word is fulfilled. He is faithful and fulfilled the promise to multiply Noah’s descendants. Are you depending on Him today to fulfill His gracious promises to you?
PRAYER: Oh Lord, make me to be fruitful in every area of my life in Jesus Name. Amen.
