MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 12TH DECEMBER 2024

God’s message to you is that you must avoid whatever looks like an oversized burden. Our most difficult problem is facing ourselves.

One brother prayed and declared that a particular sister was his wife. So, he went to tell his pastor. The pastor invited both of them and said to the sister: “This brother has prayed and he said that you are his God’s chosen wife.” Standing before the pastor, the lady looked at the brother from head to toe and said, “Sorry Pastor, this one that is sitting down here cannot carry my load (meaning that having sized him up, she had come to the conclusion that the brother was not up to her standard and cannot take care of her needs).” The Pastor said, “Which load is it that this person cannot help you to carry?” She said, “Pastor, that is my stand and it is final.” That was in year 2002. Do you know that up till now, the lady is still looking for somebody that ’can carry that load’?

The flesh is harder to deal with than the devil. You cannot bind the flesh. So, the flesh is the harder problem; it needs to be crucified. Self-centredness, lack of discipline, boasting and stubbornness are simply the flesh refusing to submit to the Holy Spirit. Many church goers are very stubborn. A stubborn person will say, “I will do it in my own way,” whereas the Bible says, “If you walk with those who are walking on foot and you are weary, what will you do when you are asked to walk with horsemen?”

It is the “footmen” that are around now. But eventually, they will go and the horse riders will come in and things would get worse, because that is what the Bible says. Evil men shall wax stronger and stronger; and peace will disappear, unless we welcome into our lives the Prince of peace and the Lord of lords. Unless you take an honest look at yourself, you may be guilty of creating for yourself an oversized burden.
