A wall helps to protect and preserve a garden, a city as well as the valuable things in them. A city without walls is at the mercy of external aggressors and vulnerable to attacks by bandits and so on. Such a city will be easily run down and its inhabitants as well as treasures in them captured. In fact, to be without walls is to be defenceless, unprotected, exposed, weak and vulnerable.
There are spiritual walls that surround believers. There is the wall of fire; there is the wall of angels, and there is the wall of the blood of Jesus. The Bible uses the word “hedge” for a wall. When the devil brought up Job’s case before God and the most High vouched for Job’s righteousness and consistency, one of the devil’s arguments was that Job was faithful and loyal because God had put a hedge round about him. As a believer, you also have that hedge or wall round about you. The devil could not afflict Job until God temporarily removed the hedge for a purpose. As long as you don’t break the hedge or remove the divine wall of protection around your life, you will be safe.
But what can make a person “a city without walls?” Proverbs 25:28 gives an answer to that question: “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.” To lack rule over one’s spirit is to lack self-control; it is being unable to control one’s anger, appetite or to be ruled by carnal passion and habits. Uncontrolled anger, gluttony, lust, talkativeness all break the hedge and walls of protection around people’s lives. They open doorways for demons to invade a life and destroy it. Beloved, it is time you waged war against that evil habit. Cry to God for grace and help to overcome anger, lust, covetousness, gluttony and anything breaking the divine hedge around you. As a believer, the devil can never win the battle over your life, except you allow him. I pray that you will leverage on heaven’s support and be the conqueror you are!

MORNING
1. If the walls around my life have broken down, O Lord, rebuild them, in the name of Jesus.
2. Father, give me the virtue of self-control, in the name of Jesus.
3. I overcome the works of the flesh, by the power in the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING
4. Any doorway that is open to demons to make me vulnerable, be closed with the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
5. My Father, put Your hedge of protection around me and my family, in the name of Jesus.
6. Anything the devil can use to destroy the hedge of God around me, die now, in the name of Jesus.
7. I overcome the enemy, by the power in the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
