Scripture: Romans 3:23-25
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed”

2024 TEENS VOLUME RHAPSODY OF REALITIES – MESSAGE.
“Oh, my goodness! Jane, what happened to your arms? Why do you have so many cuts and bruises?” Monica screamed.
“I told a lie, and I couldn’t stop feeling guilty about it. And I read somewhere that when you sin, you must be punished for it, even if you have to do it to yourself,” Jane said as she pulled down her sleeves to hide her injuries.
“No, Jane, you didn’t have to do that! Jesus already took all the punishment for everyone, including you. He was bruised, beaten, and sacrificed for your sins, so you don’t need to punish yourself anymore. Please, don’t do this again,” Monica gently corrected.
“Can you tell me more about Jesus?” Jane asked, and Monica went on to share the Gospel with her.
Some people, like Jane, hurt themselves or do other extreme things, in a futile attempt to pay for their sins. If this has been your experience, stop immediately! It’s futile because Jesus paid fully for you. Stop hurting yourself in an attempt to atone for your sins. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for us, which means you don’t have to suffer for your mistakes.
The Greek word translated “propitiation” in our opening verse is “hilasterion,” and it means the place of mercy or “Mercy Seat.” In the Old Testament, the Mercy Seat was the covering of the ark of God. He met the High Priest there, and His presence was upon the Mercy Seat. But today, Jesus Christ is God’s place of mercy for us; He’s the Mercy Seat, the medium of expiation.
Jesus was born for this purpose so that God would declare His own righteousness for letting sinners go free. You have, in the Lord Jesus Christ, your permanent Mercy Seat; He offered up Himself as the perfect sacrifice so you would never have to pay for your sins again. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Receive it for yourself, and tell those in your world. Praise God!
