MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 12TH SEPTEMBER 2023

Today, we will be looking at another aspect of the life of Judas Iscariot that we need to avoid.
Judas never opened up nor confessed his sins and that gave the devil a foothold in his life. He knew he had issues with money; he knew he steals and he never opened up to anyone including Jesus. He kept his sins hidden from his friends and ministry partners (John 13:27-30).

Probably, he would have been helped it he had opened up to Peter or John. They would have rallied round him in prayers. Jesus would have prayed for him like he prayed for Peter. But he kept his battle to himself. He must have muttered to himself that ‘how could a great man that I am descend so low to be vulnerable’. He forgot that only God cannot make mistakes. In this mortal body, we are bound to make mistakes, but when we do, we must not be too proud to repent. He forgot that sometimes, even the deliverer also needs deliverance. He chose to conceal his battle until he was disgraced.

Beloved, there are battles you can’t fight alone; but with the help of true fellow believers, you will overcome. The devil delights in secrecy, especially on issues that will give him access into your life. It pays better to seek help and disappoint him than keep quiet and enthrone him. That was the fault of Judas.

Beloved, it is true that so many believers have been betrayed in the church by brethren whom they trusted. The fact that someone disappointed you or broadcasted your secrets does not mean that all brethren are bad. The church is a place of fellowship and succour. There is still a John the Beloved in the church, who will rally round you in love and stand with you in all circumstances until you overcome.

There is a Matthew in the church who could counsel you rightly on how he too overcame the temptation of money because he had been there.
Prayerfully surround yourself with people that can hold your feeble hand. It may be your spouse, parent, pastor or even your children. Speak up and get help. Do not die in silence. You will not be a victim of destruction, in the name of Jesus.
